A Mouthwatering Preparation Of Cottage Cheese

Cottage cheese is a very nutritious thing and it gives energy and strength. Most cottage cheese is low in carbohydrates. It supplies a great amount of body building calcium.

Calcium is important not only for building strong bones but also to maintain normal blood pressure. Cottage cheese helps to build muscle and supplies lots of energy. That is why it is a favorite food for sportsperson. Here is an easy preparation of cottage cheese.

Cottage cheese Curry

Ingredients

•    500 grams cottage cheese
•    2 large potato
•    1 tomato
•    2 bay leaves
•    2 onions
•    3-4 garlic
•    1 inch ginger
•   Green peas 100 grams
•    Turmeric
•    2 Cardamom
•    Cinnamon 1 inch
•    2 cloves
•    mace
•    1 teaspoon chili powder
•    Salt
•    Sugar
•    Butter 0il

Preparation

Cut cottage cheese into large pieces. Peel and cut potato into large pieces. Soak them in warm salty water for 30 minutes. Then drain the water and store the salty water in another container to use later. Take one onion and chop it very finely. Take another onion, ginger and garlic and grind it into fine paste. Grind nutmeg, cinnamon, mace and clove into fine powder.  Chop tomato very finely.

Process

Heat 2-3 tablespoon of butter oil in a pan. Fry bay leave and add chopped onion. Fry them till light brown. Add chopped tomato. Stir continuously to fry them well. Add grinded spices and stir continuously. When the raw smell has gone away add ½ teaspoon turmeric powder and ½ teaspoon red chili powder. Add potato and green peas and cook. Add the water in which you soaked cottage cheese earlier. Cook them keeping the lid on till the potato gets almost tender.  Then add the pieces of cottage cheese. When the preparation has turned to thick gravy sprinkle the powdered spice and pinch of sugar. Serve it hot with either rice or bread.

Tips: By nature cottage cheese is a brittle thing and so if you soak cottage cheese in salty warm water it remains in proper shape when you boil it in gravy and adequate boiling helps to enhance size. If you add tomato and pinch of sugar in the heated oil it adds color. When you fry red chili powder in hot oil it looses its hot taste and adds a beautiful red color in the preparation.
