Excess of cholesterol in the blood stream is nothing but a clear indication of silent death. Heart attack is the more likely result of high cholesterol condition. Olive oil is said to be a great fighter against high cholesterol as it is very stable oil and does not get oxidized quickly like the other cooking mediums. Obviously you can also help yourself by cutting down on red meat and milk products which are high in saturated fats.
A healthy person does not need more than 300 mg of cholesterol on a daily basis but those with heart ailments should restrict their intake to a maximum of 200 mg only. The total fat intake should not exceed 20% of the total calorie intake.
Always try to increase the intake of fish as they are good source of Omega – 3 fatty acids – a highly reliable fighter against bad cholesterol. Lastly don’t eat kidney, liver or brain as they have exceptionally high cholesterol content.
