When you overeat, the stomach extends and the valve connecting the esophagus and stomach gets relaxed leading to acid reflux. While eating, take ample time to chew the food properly and then swallow it. This prevents excess air from entering the stomach and causing gas.

Vegetables like uncooked onions and tomatoes; fatty foods including high fat meat and dairy products; chocolates, garlic, peppermint, etc contain high levels of acids and can be avoided in case you are suffering from acid reflux. Chilly, peppers, etc can cause irritation to the damaged esophagus lining and hence should be kept away from.
