Diet Suitable For Ulcer Patients

Ulcers are sores or kind of inflammation in the stomach or intestinal duct. Ulcers might be caused by bacterium present in the stomach. The kind of food intake the patient has will have its hard effects on the ulcer. If the food intake is hard for digestion, it may cause more acid to be produced in the stomach which leads to the worsening of the ulcer. Having a healthier and balanced diet will help in regulating the ulcer.

Some of the methods to control ulcer using diet are as follows:

The diet of an ulcer patient should be able to provide the patient with enough nutrition as well as it should be able to neutralize the acids present in the stomach. The diet should be able to lessen the acid production and it should help the body to loosen up.

Vitamin A is a good ingredient in the diet. It helps in rebuilding the damaged tissues in the digestive tract. Fruits like apricots, mangoes, vegetables like sweet potatoes, spinach and eggs do have the needed vitamin A content in them. Even though it is advised to have it, too much of this can be harmful.

For maintaining the structure of the digestive muscle, vitamin C is an important factor. Vitamin C helps initiate the healing process of the damaged tissues and prevents further infection in the intestines. Orange, lemon, mango, grapefruit and strawberry has large amount of vitamin C. Vegetables like papaya, broccoli, onion etc are also rich in Vitamin C.

Vitamin E is an antioxidant and helps in destroying the free radicals and helps in improving the immunity of the body. Mangoes, green leafy vegetables like spinach and broccoli has the desired amount of vitamin E in them. Fortified cereals, peanut butter and soybeans also have vitamin E content.

Zinc is necessary for initiating the various biochemical reactions in the body. Zinc also helps in healing the wounds and providing immunity to the body. Orange, potatoes, raisin, peanut butter, whole grains and peanut butter should be included in the diet of ulcer patients.

Ulcer patients should take time to chew the food and try to avoid fatty foods. they should also try to avoid hot  and chilly food stuffs like black pepper, chocolate, coffee, tea etc. ulcer patients should make sure they does not have stale food. Ulcer patients should make sure that they have in their diet all those ingredients needed for the curing of their ulcer.
