Fish curry with coconut is best known for its unique taste among the tourists who visit the south India. You can make a delicious fish curry with coconut by following the instructions dictated in this article.

Ingredients

Fish ½ kg
Fresh Coconut 1 Cup
Shallots 6
Ginger root 1 teaspoon
Green chilies 4
Turmeric Powder 1 teaspoon
Fenugreek Seeds 8
Chili Powder 1 teaspoon
Curry Leaves 1 sprig
Kudampuli (Garcinia Cambogia or Kerala tamarind) (soaked)  5
Tomato 1
Salt
Oil 1 tablespoon
Water
Coriander leaves

Method

First, cut the fish into pieces and wash them properly. Now, you have to make a mixture of chili powder and turmeric powder adding little water with them. Then, apply that mixture on fish pieces properly and keep them aside.

Now, you have to make a paste with the coconut. For that, cut the coconut into thin pieces using a coconut cutter or anything that sort and grind it well. Add enough water (to make a paste) to the grinder while you grind.

Then, heat a griddle pouring oil to it and, when oil is hot enough, add the fenugreek seeds. Then, add ginger and shallots to the pan stirring it well. You have to fry them for some time.

After that, you need to add the fish pieces you put aside to the griddle. Then, slice the tomato into small pieces and add it to the griddle along with paste of coconut you made earlier. Add green chilies and required salt mixing them well in this stage.

Now, increase the heat adding required water. Cook it until the fish pieces get cooked well. After that, add the soaked Kudampuli to the curry stirring it well (if you don’t get Kudampuli, use tamarind).

Then, you have to reduce the heat and add curry leaves into the griddle. After some time, turn out the fire and pour the hot Fish Curry to a serving plate and garnish it with coriander leaves. Your fish curry with coconut is ready to be served.
