Healthy Fruit Based Dessert Recipes
Desserts are everyone’s favourite and most of us look forward to indulging in these sweet treats often. With increasing health awareness among people, we are becoming diet conscious and consuming calorie rich desserts full of rich ingredients such as cream, sugar, eggs, etc is becoming passé.
Fruit based desserts are a new trend as these desserts are less calorie rich compared to traditional desserts and because of the inclusion of fruits they become nutritious. Discussed here are a few healthy yet delicious fruit based dessert recipes.
Low Calorie Mango Pudding
This healthy dessert packs the goodness of fresh mangoes and provides Vitamins A and C. The skim milk powder used in place of heavy cream makes this recipe a low calorie delight.
To make this delicious mango pudding, dissolve 3/4th cup of sugar in a tablespoon of gelatin and 1 cup of hot water. In a large mixing bowl, mix in about 4 cups of fresh mango puree, a cup of skimmed milk powder and about 8-10 ice cubes. Whisk all these ingredients thoroughly and then add in the gelatine mixture. Stir the gelatin mix with the mango puree mix till the ice cubes melt.
Pour the entire mixture into moulds and allow the pudding to set in the refrigerator for 3-4 hours. Once the pudding has set, dip the moulds in lukewarm water and then pour the pudding into serving glasses. Garnish with freshly cut mango pieces.
Apple Strawberry Crispy Delight
This warm dessert combines healthy ingredients such as oats and whole wheat to provide you with fibre. It includes apples and strawberries that are a rich source of Vitamins A, C and anti-oxidants.
To make this healthy dessert, add about a half a cup of oats and mix it with 2 tablespoons whole wheat flour, 3 tablespoons brown sugar and a little cinnamon powder. To the oat and flour mixture, add about 2 tablespoon salted butter. Rub the butter with your hands into the oats and flour mix, giving it a coarse texture, resembling bread crumbs. In a baking tin, arrange finely 2-3 finely chopped apples with 10-12 finely chopped fresh strawberries and sprinkle some sugar over it.
Pour the oats, wheat flour and butter mix over the cut fruits and bake in a pre-heated oven for about 15-20 minutes. The temperature in the oven needs to be maintained at around 350 degree Fahrenheit.
