How To Make Delicious And Popular Chicken Marsala

The main ingredient of this dish is the Marsala wine which imparts this dish its unique flavor. Marsala wine is an Italian wine which has a smoky flavor making this dish taste absolutely delicious. Chicken Marsala is also flavored with many other Italian herbs making it flavorful and delicious.

Most people think of eating Chicken Marsala only at Italian restaurants thinking it is too difficult to make this dish at home. It is easy to make Chicken Marsala at home just the way you get it at Italian restaurants. This article discusses an easy recipe that will help you make flavorful Chicken Marsala at home.

Ingredients

3-4 boneless chicken breasts
½ cup refined flour
Salt to taste
1 spoon freshly ground black pepper
1 spoon fresh basil leaves chopped
4 spoons butter
4 spoons extra virgin olive oil
½ cup fresh mushrooms thinly sliced
3/4th cup Marsala wine
1 cup chicken stock
2 spoons paprika powder
1 spoon garlic powder
1 spoon onion powder
2 spoons mixed dried herbs such as basil, thyme, rosemary, etc.

Method

To make chicken marsala, wash the chicken breasts and pat them dry. Take a shallow bowl and combine the refined flour with salt, freshly ground black pepper, chopped fresh basil leaves, paprika powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and mixed dried herbs. Take the chicken breasts and coat them very well with the flour mixed with the spices and herbs.

Take a skillet and melt the butter in it. Once the skillet becomes hot, place the flour coated chicken breasts in them. Brown the chicken breasts in the hot butter till they acquire a nice golden brown color on both sides. This should take 2-3 minutes on each side. Once the chicken breasts are browned, remove them from the skillet and keep aside.

In the same skillet, pour the olive oil and then add the sliced mushrooms. Sauté the mushrooms till they get evenly cooked. Once the mushrooms get done add the marsala wine and bring to a boil. Let the sauce simmer with the mushrooms for 2-3 minutes. After this add the chicken stock and cook it with the marsala wine till the sauce attains desired consistency.

Season the sauce with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Lower the heat and then add the chicken breasts to the sauce. Let the chicken breasts cook with the sauce on low heat for 10 minutes. After 10 mintues add a swirl of butter to the sauce and stir it well with the sauce. S

erve the chicken marsala hot with warm garlic bread. Chicken Marsala is generally served as an entrée along with a fresh green lettuce salad. The salad can include cherry tomatoes and goes well with an Italian style salad dressing composed of olive oil, red wine vinegar, salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Chicken Marsala can also be served with a range of pasta dishes to complete a full course Italian meal.
