Manage your Cravings
Cravings are awful, they strike with such intensity that we are unable to tackle them. They are really capable of negating your weight loss efforts. Thus, it is good to be armed with a gameplan to manage them. Given below are a few tips to help you manage your food cravings easily.
Keep Junk Out of Reach
Sometimes, it’s difficult to resist your favorite foods when they are always easily accessible. If you are someone who stocks up your refrigerator
with chocolates and sweets, then you need to reconsider this practice. It would be hard for anyone to resist temptation that is staring right in their face.
So, you would not be able to stay on your diet if fattening foods are stocked up in your home. So get rid of all such foods that threaten your weight loss plan. It would be wise, to replace this store with healthy foods like fruits, vegetables and nuts. Thus, when a binging yen strikes, you will be helping yourself to much healthier fare.
Food Journal
Sometimes, when cravings attack, you reach out for the first thing in your sight. You could be out at a social event or passing by a tempting food takeout. You could even forget about this small binging spree towards the end of the day. Thus, if you are unable to track your food intake during the day, then keep a food journal.
Jog your memory over the events of the day and write everything you have eaten. This habit helps you understand your cravings habits, eating pattern, and calorie intake and thereby manage them better.
Take a Diet Break
You can remedy this by taking a diet break once in a while. This will help you maintain your diet plan on a long term. You can take a diet break by indulging in your favorite foods occasionally. You can probably include one serving of any fattening food every week in your diet.
You could also look for a healthier replacement for the foods you crave. People with a sweet-tooth can go for organic cookies, dark chocolate , diet granola bars, sweetened yogurt (with a non calorie sweetener) etc. While, people craving salty snacks can go for lean chicken or fish with whole grain breads, popcorn, grilled meats with vegetables etc.
