This cake is healthy and nutritious and can be eaten as a tea time snack. You need not worry if you find the kids snacking on it through the day. It is full of carbohydrates and will keep you and the kids energetic through the day.
Take one hundred grams of whole wheat flour and fifty grams of oats. You can blend the oats and keep if you want it fine. Mix the oats and flour together. To this add seventy five grams of butter. Use a fork to keep cutting and mixing in the butter till it looks like bread crumbs. Now add in two teaspoons of brown sugar. To this add about two tablespoons of milk and knead it to a dough. Once you mix it well remove it on to a floured surface and knead again. Do it gently.
Now roll it out to a thickness of about a quarter of an inch and use round cutters to cut out circles. Again knead the trimmings and re roll and cut again. Make as many rounds as you can to make small size cakes. Place in on a greased oven tray and bake for twenty minutes or till golden brown. Bake at 160 degrees Celsius.
Remove and allow it to cool on a wire rack. Once cooled you can store them in an air tight container. When you want to eat it you can heat it in the oven for a few minutes to warm it. If you want you can freeze it up to 2 months and thaw it out when you want to eat it.
These are great home made biscuits that you can make when you are going on a long journey. It is also good to eat some before you play a sport as it will give you the energy you need to exercise. If you do not have brown sugar you can use regular white sugar. You can also pour some chocolate sauce over it before serving it. You can also serve it with honey. This is different from the regular biscuits and cookies you get at the stores. Get the kids to help you and they will surely eat it.
