Sesame and Spinach Sandwich
Sandwiches have always been the most popular snack. Be it cheese, chicken, vegetable, jam, etc. sandwiches have a special place in our list favorite snacks!
When choosing the bread for sandwiches, opt for whole wheat bread or a multi-grain one as they are much healthier. People generally avoid these healthier varieties as the taste is compensated. Here is a recipe for a sandwich made from wheat or multi-grain bread. It is as tasty as it is healthy!
You will need:
- A packet of bread
- Spinach leaves – a bunch (approx 200 gm)
- Onion – 1
- Tomatoes – 2
- Green chilies – 1-2
- Sesame seeds – 2 tbsp
- Salt – as per your taste
- Juice of a lemon
- A pinch of oregano seasoning
Method:
Dry roast the sesame seeds on a low flame and finely powder it. Next, chop the spinach leaves, wash it and lightly sauté. You can add about a teaspoon of oil if you wish. Once the leaves shrink, take it off the flame and mince it along with the powdered sesame seeds and green chilies.
Finely chop the onions and saute them with a teaspoon of oil, till they are slightly golden. Add it to the spinach paste, along with salt, lemon juice and oregano seasoning and mix well.
Toast a couple of bread slices (avoid butter or any other form of grease). Smear the spinach paste generously on the both the slices. Arrange a few slices of tomatoes and stack the bread together. Your health sandwich is ready to be devoured!
In case you like the taste of asafoetida, you can add a small pinch of it while sauteing the onions. You can also make this paste in a larger quantity and store it in your fridge for up to 5 days.

Spinach can satisfy your daily dose of iron while lemon juice serves as a good liver stimulant.
