The Importance Of Having A Healthy Breakfast

Submitted on September 3, 2010 by 6 views

Most people ignore the importance of having a healthy breakfast in the morning. They simply ignore the morning meal and straightaway take lunch.  In addition to the most obvious fact of it being unhealthy, skipping breakfast causes a lot of problems in life.

One of the biggest effects of skipping breakfast is that later in life it will slow your metabolism down, which in turn will cause a lot of health related problems.  These problems include blood pressure issues, cholesterol problems and even cardiac diseases.

Most people follow what they feel in the morning, so if they do not feel hungry, they will not eat anything. This is wrong because in the morning your body needs that first healthy dose of energy to stay fit and energetic till lunch. As well as you also need to understand that having breakfast does not mean putting anything down your throat.

It needs to be healthy food so your body can utilize the energy rather than storing fat because this will lead to unhealthy weight gain. Eating a healthy breakfast will actually help you maintain a healthy weight, because the first meal will help start your metabolism off rather than letting your body survive on stored energy.

So exactly what are the types of healthy foods you should be having for breakfast? A bowl of cereal with preferably low fat milk, different fruits freshly cut and a glass of any fruit juice. You can even have a few slices of toast with or without butter.

Since you will be fairly active during the morning hours your body will efficiently use up all the energy rather than converting and storing it as fat. If you don’t want to get bored of eating the same cereal and fruits every day then you can try a different recipe every day to make it interesting.

If you feel that some days you do not have the time for a full healthy breakfast then pack a fruit or two with you along with a protein drink. These will help you a lot and efficiently energize your body. As long as you keep the calorie count low and the protein and fiber count high, you will stay healthy and fit.
