Two Mouthwatering Recipes of Shrimp

Shrimp and potato both are very tasty and make a very good combination. Besides being tasty they both are very nutritious. Potato is an excellent source of carbohydrate which gives strength and shrimp is a popular sea food which is a good source of many things – vitamins, phosphorus, magnesium, omega-3 fatty acid, iron, Zink, copper, etc.

Mashed Potato and Fried Shrimp



Ingredients:

•    2 large potatoes
•    12-15 medium sized shrimps
•    2 tablespoon butter
•    3 tablespoon lemon juice
•    1 large onion
•    Black pepper
•    Salt

Preparation:

Boil potato in salt water and remove its jacket. Shell shrimps and clean them well. Marinate them with lemon juice and salt. Finely chop the onion. Grind black pepper and keep aside 1 tablespoon for use.

Process:

On a pan heat butter and fry the shrimp on slow heat. When they become tender keep them aside. In the remaining butter, fry onion till they turn golden brown. Mash potato and then mixed it with fried onion. Add fried shrimps; add salt to taste and black pepper powder. Mix all these things very well. This preparation goes well with bread. Or you can make sandwich using this preparation as stuffing.

Shrimp Potato Curry

Ingredients:

•    Shrimp (medium sized) 500 gm
•    1 large potato
•    1 large capsicum
•    Onion paste 1 tablespoon
•    Ginger paste ½ tea spoon
•    Corn flour 1 heaped tablespoon
•    1 large capsicum
•    Oregano
•    Corn flour
•    water
•    Salt
•    ½ tablespoon black pepper powder
•    Olive oil

Preparation:

Clean the shrimps and keep them aside to strain water. Dice potato and capsicum and keep them separately. Rub salt on the shrimp. Mix corn flour and water in a bowl.

Process:

Heat oil in a pan, fry shrimp very lightly and keep them aside. Now fry onion paste and ginger paste in oil. Stir continuously. Add potato and fried shrimp and keep stirring. Cook for ten minutes keeping the lid on. When potatoes and shrimps get tender, add capsicum and salt. Keep stirring. Pour the corn flour and boil till light gravy is ready. Add black pepper powder and oregano. Serve it hot with steamed rice.
